History

Established in 1942 as Montgomery Bible College, Faulkner University has a rich history of providing students with quality academics based on God’s Holy Word.

The college’s early success led to tremendous growth, and by 1975, the college expanded to multiple campuses in Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile. The college acquired the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 1983 and was accredited as a four-year university a year later. The college was renamed Faulkner University in 1985 in honor of Dr. James Faulkner, a longtime supporter, trustee and chairman of the board.

Today, Faulkner University includes five colleges:

  • Alabama Christian College of Arts and Sciences
  • Harris College of Business and Executive Education
  • V.P. Black College of Biblical Studies
  • College of Education
  • Thomas Goode Jones School of Law

The introduction of Faulkner’s online campus created new growth opportunities for the university and an innovative outlet for adult learners to earn a college degree.
